Computer Science students win a first place in "FiskHack Hackathon":
FiskHack II was hosted by Fisk University in October 2016.听It is an initiative by students at Fisk University to train college and high school students, from minority groups, with technology-related skill sets in an effort to diversify the workforce. About 200 students from various schools in the US competed to become better programmers under the mentorship of professionals from leading tech companies. Participants were students from Vanderbilt University, University of Tennessee, 91制片厂, Middle 91制片厂, Lipscomb University,...CS department has participated with Delta Squad team that include students Ding Wang, Hui Chen, and Kase Cosgrove.

Computer Science students competed in the Mid-Central ACM ICPC programming contest at UT-Martin: On November 5th, 2016, the TSU programming team competed at the 2016 ACM Intercollegiate Programming Contest Mid-Central Regional site at the University of Tennessee at Martin. TSU sent two teams of three students comprised of computer science majors and minors. Both teams had a very strong showing, but TSU team blue finished 2nd out of 7 teams at the UT-Martin site, narrowly being edged out by one of the teams fielded by UT-Martin. TSU Blue finished 47th out of 105 total teams at all Mid-Central Regional sites. This marks the third year in a row that TSU has fielded a team that has finished in the top-3 at a Mid-Central regional site. TSU Blue was comprised of computer science students Alan Bond, Tim Darrah, and William Sanders. TSU White consisted of computer science students Blake Bowers, Samuel Boules, and Kanesha Patterson. .

Computer Science students take 1st place at annual cyber security competition: Four students from the College of Engineering, Department of Computer Science took part in an annual Cyber Security Challenge at the ADMI 2016 Symposium on Computing at Minority Institutions on April 1st and brought home two 1st place wins under the advisement of Dr. Tamara Rogers. The team members, Tim Darrah, Blake Bowers, Ryan Stubbs, and Isaiah Grigsby, said the wins were a direct result of many hours of studying, practice, and dedicated teamwork.
