Building leadership skills and an appreciation of civic engagement are core components of the course to be accomplished through service-learning activities. HCAP 2010-The course provides an overview of the American Health System with an emphasis on acquainting students with various aspects of the entire health care field, including terminology, facilities, placements, and people. The subject areas include a history of the development of the American Health Care System, a descriptive analysis of the various levels of health care delivery and the patient care system, exposure to financing of health care, and an introduction to governmental involvement in the health care system. HCAP 2011-The Lab provides an introduction to essential concepts for writing in the health care industry. The topics covered will include the styles of writing such as APA; the appropriate form and formats used in professional research; and preparation of presentations and delivery (taught the class online). HCAP 3800-Introduction to Public Health provides instruction designed to help students develop an understanding and appreciation for the factors that affect health status. The course allows students to evaluate future changes that may impact the provision of public health services and the practical application of principles for health care organizations. HCAP 4000 Field Placement was designed to give the student direct experience in various health care settings. HCAP 4700-The Long-Term Care Administration course presents administrative issues of care for long-term care with specific discussions about older adults, primary and extended care for older adults. Information is provided to students in preparation for the nursing home administrators exam (developed an online section for the course) HCAP 4500- Health Care Finance provides students with a foundation in health care finance and seeks to enhance the students understanding of financial management techniques (teach an online section of the course). HCAP 4900 Health Care Research provides an introduction to research design with an emphasis on the application of statistical and research techniques to problems of concern to the health care system (teach an online section of the course). HLSC 2140 Health Physics course provides students the opportunity to learn the basic principles of motion. This is so they may acquire a sound base to facilitate their subsequent work in professional courses in human motion and performance. Principles to be covered include; lever systems, laws of motion, forces and force interactions, temperature and heat, and atoms and molecules. This course is designed to incorporate practice in relating scientific principles and models to human motion. HLSC 3000 The Ethics and Professionalism in Health Sciences course presents current issues and information on professionalism and medical ethics for health sciences professionals. HLSC 3020 The course examines current and future health issues within the United States. The purpose of the course is to expose students to some of the critical issues that will impact healthcare. HLSC 3100 Complementary and Alternative Approaches in Health Care provides an overview of the various approaches to complementary and alternative medicine. HLSC 4500 Contemporary Issues in Clinical Geriatric Care which is the study of geriatric issues of importance to health care professional.
